Summer Camp Week 8: July 20th-24th

Morning Meditation (LASC Morning Care)
Grades: K-8th

Summer Camp Week 8, July 20th-24th | K - 8th Grade | $50 ($45 Members)

Need to drop off early? No problem, begin the day by joining our morning meditation starting at 8am. Students can enjoy activities such as yoga, stretching, getting your body moving and more all while under the stars in our planetarium. LASC staff will guide students to their classrooms at 8:45am.

Plant Protectors
Grades: Pre-K (ages: 3-5)

Teacher: Harper Zeitz | July 20th-24th, 9:00am - 12:00 pm | $200 ($175 Members)
Grades: Pre-K (ages 3-5) (Must be bathroom independent)

Want to learn to care for the Earth through creative projects, exploration, and play? Throughout the week, students will explore topics such as trees, plants, flowers, pollinators, insects, animals, habitats, gardening, recycling and more! Each unit includes engaging and creative projects, sensory activities, and simple science experiences that help preschoolers understand how nature works and how they can help protect our planet.

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide one peanut-free snack, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Arctic Encounter
Grades: K-2nd

Teacher: Hannah Riley | July 20th-24th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)
Grades: K-2nd 

Campers will explore the icy world of the Arctic, learning about polar animals, extreme environments, and how creatures like polar bears, penguins, seals, and even killer whales survive in cold climates. Through hands-on art projects, mixed-media creations, and exciting science activities, campers will build a mini Arctic habitat and create projects like penguin pals, polar bears on icebergs, and many more arctic inspired art. This fun and frosty camp blends creativity and discovery for young explorers who love animals, imagination, and snowy adventures! 

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Splash Lab
Grades: K-5th

Teacher: Ruth Cathy | July 20th-24th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)
Grades: K-5th grade 

Who doesn’t love water and science? Why not combine them! In this hands-on summer camp, students will learn all about water quality while experimenting with fun activities like lava lamps, sink-or-float challenges, saltwater vs. freshwater experiments, water testing, making their own bubbles and much more! Campers will also explore water pollution and discover how they can be activists for clean, healthy water. Of course, each day includes water games outside on the LASC grounds. Be sure to pack extra clothes!

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Music Makers Studio: Write, Play, Perform
Grades: 3rd-5th

Teacher: Will Padgett  | July 20th-24th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)
Grades: 3rd-5th grade 

This hands-on music class invites students to explore the world of music through playing, creating, and performing. Participants will learn the basics of playing a variety of instruments, including ukulele and percussion, while also having the opportunity to bring and play their own instruments. Students will build simple instruments such as can-tars, experiment with rhythm using drums, and explore the history of music across different cultures and time periods. Through guided activities, they will develop foundational music skills, collaborate with peers, and try their hand at songwriting and musical expression. The week will end with a final performance, where students will showcase what they’ve learned for friends and family. No prior musical experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and a love of sound.

Food or Fake
Grades: 6th-8th

Teacher: Meredith Coffey | July 20th-24th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $365 ($340 Members)
Grades: 6th-8th grade 

Cooking and Sculpture in the same class, who would have thought! In this class, students will take a deep dive into learning basic cooking skills and then take it a step further by creating fun food sculptures. Students will learn to bake and cook simple meals that their whole family can enjoy for dinner. Students will also spend some of the afternoons learning to work with paper mache and plaster. They will be creating 3D sculptures in the representation of REAL food items. Don't miss the ultimate food challenge. Is it real or fake?

Basic Ceramics
Adult Summer Camp Ages 18+

Teacher: Marianne Brown | July 20th-24th, HALF Day 1:00pm - 4:00pm | 18+ | $250 ($225 Members)

Unwind and get creative in this adult ceramics summer camp! This beginner-friendly class introduces the fundamentals of working with clay, including hand-building techniques, basic forms, and even some wheel throwing; if you’re feeling brave! Participants will learn how clay transforms from soft material to finished ceramic through drying, firing, and glazing. Already have some ceramics experience? Don’t let that stop you from joining in the fun. Our studio is designed for all skill levels, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn new tips and techniques from our fantastic instructor, Marianne Brown, in a creative and fun environment.

Learning Lounge LASC Aftercare
Grades: K-8th

Summer Camp Week 8, July 20th-24th | K - 8th Grade | $50 ($45 Members)

Join LASC for the aftercare Learning Lounge. Students can enjoy supervised crafts, games, activities, and recreation time after class. Students must be picked up by 5:30 pm.
