Summer Camp Week 10

Morning Meditation LASC Morning Care
Grades: K-12th

Summer Camp Week 10, August 5th-9th | K - 12th Grade | $50 ($45 Members) 

Need to drop off early? No problem, begin the day by joining our morning meditation starting at 8am. Students can enjoy activities such as yoga, stretching, getting your body moving and more all while under the stars in our planetarium. LASC staff will guide students to their classrooms at 8:45am.

Pre-K Book Club
Grades: Pre-K (ages 3-5)

Teacher: Grace Kistner | August 5th-9th, 9:00am - 12:00 pm | $200 ($175 Members)
Grades: Pre-K (ages 3-5) (Must be bathroom independent)

Immerse yourself in a week of literary adventures with our "Pre K Book Club" class! Create fancy crowns, jewelry inspired by Fancy Nancy, crafting caterpillars and food art from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, mouse ears, monkeys crafts, and a test to see if you like green eggs and ham. Each day is a delightful blend of literature and hands-on creativity!

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide one peanut-free snack, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Move to the Groove
Grades: K-2nd

Teacher: Audrey Harmon & Will Padgett | August 5th-9th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)
Grades: K-2nd 

 Let's get ready to move and groove! In this music and dance inspired class students will focus on learning tempo, rhythm, beat melody and more! Students will spend the morning with Ms. Audrey, singing, telling stories, crafting and dancing. The afternoon will be spent with Mr. Will Padgett, a local musician who has been playing multiple instruments professionally for over 25 years. Students will experience a real life instrument petting zoo; getting to touch and try out professional real instruments. Students will also take part in group ukulele lessons and create their very own instruments to take home. 

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Start the Water Works
Grades: 3rd-5th

Teachers: Gaby Hoss & Alli Baker | August 5th-9th, 9:00am-4:00pm | $350 (members $325)

Discover the water that flows all around you! In this class, students will explore the many ways water affects our everyday life. We will investigate native watersheds that exist all around us, how weather and water are connected, how the water cycle operates, and much more in the way of water!

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut-free snacks, one lunch and a personal water bottle for their child.

Mural Walking Tour & Portfolio Punch Up
Grades: 6th-8th

Teacher: Meghan Taylor & Kenn Minter | August 5th-9th, 9:00am - 4:00pm | $350 ($325 Members)

This class is another LASC combo special.

Students will spend the morning with Meghan Taylor as you experience a walking tour of Downtown Lexington’s vast array of street art. Students will learn about the artists, their work and participate in guided discussions to describe, analyze and interpret each painting. Portable cameras will also be given for students to document and print images later in the week.

*Walking permission slips will need to be signed for the week.

*Parents will receive a map each day of the walking tour students will participate in.

*Students should wear comfortable clothes, a small backpack with water bottle, snacks and sun protection.

The second portion of the day will be spent with local professional artist and cartoonist, Kenn Minter. Kenn Minter has been drawing and cartooning for over 40 years! He brings extremely valuable resources when it comes to portfolio work. Students are encouraged to bring their portfolios to class, in order for Kenn to help them “punch up” their work. Don’t have a portfolio yet? No problem! Kenn will also be helping students begin their portfolios. Exploring with lots of different mediums, students will learn valuable art skills including drawing, cartooning and more.

This class will meet in person at the Living Arts & Science Center. Parents should provide two peanut free snacks, one lunch, and a personal water bottle for their child.

Learning Lounge Aftercare
Grades: K-12th

Summer Camp Week 10: August 5th-9th | K - 12th Grade | $50 ($45 Members)LASC

Join LASC for the aftercare Learning Lounge. Students can enjoy supervised crafts, games, activities and recreation time after class. Students must be picked up by 5:30pm.
