Once again I am plotting.
I create generative drawings using code and an AxiDraw pen plotter, combining digital processes with traditional mark-making. Inspired by an early fascination with pen plotters and a background in drawing, I am interested in the relationship between machine precision and human expression.
Working primarily in Clojure and generative systems, I create images that are later translated into physical drawings by the plotter. The process embraces experimentation, repetition, and unexpected outcomes, treating code as both a tool and a collaborator. Rather than pursuing predetermined results, I build systems that evolve through play, iteration, and chance, exploring what emerges when digital logic meets the physical act of drawing.Website: https://summasmiff.github.io/

"In my practice, I explore the nuances of my feminine identity through the lived reality of my body. Femininity is felt in weight, whimsy, ache, and exaggeration. By acknowledging both the humor and heaviness of feminine existence, body dysmorphia is engaged through play, stretching and shrinking the body to mirror absurd standards that distort the feminine self.
Scale, material, and color address the dilemmas around body image and the elusive 'ideal form'. These tensions manifest in large-scale works of my bare chest, in tandem with micro-scale pieces that laugh at body dysmorphia. Materials that evolve with me are embraced, symbolizing my evolving body and confidence in my femininity. Radical honesty, cloaked in a joke. I invite viewers to explore the tender terrain where the body is reimagined."

For a general statement:
Kiana White is a local KY based artist. A recent MFA graduate of UK and Alumni of Georgetown College. Her work explores the nuances of her feminine identity. She utilizes color, scale, and material to play with the ideas of what womanhood means. During her time as the artist in residence, Kiana is excited to explore her material based studies in fiber arts through traditional quilting, repurposed clothing works, weaving, and crochet. Fatemeh Tajaddod
Fatemeh Tajaddod received her Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Kentucky in 2025. Originally from Iran, she moved to the United States in 2021. She holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Art from the Tehran University of Art.Her primary medium is clay, and her practice also extends to architecture, interior design, installation, and public art. Fatemeh brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to every project, with a deep appreciation for materials, storytelling, and community engagement.She is passionate about creating work that is both meaningful and accessible, exploring the intersection of functional objects, cultural heritage, and contemporary art.Artist-in-Residence 2025-2026
Meredith Coffey
Meredith Coffey is an artist and educator currently working and living in Lexington, KY. Her artwork focuses on slow fashion, material waste and keeping objects out of our landfills. She mostly takes pieces of trash and embellishes them in a way to make them valuable, one of a kind objects. Her work includes irony, religious iconography and wearable activist pieces.
Meredith is a Graduate from the University of Kentucky with degrees in Art History and Art Studio. She has been involved in Art Education for over 6 years, working in multiple public schools, nonprofits and afterschool programs. Meredith Coffey is currently an artist in residence at The Living Arts & Science Center and in June she will host a solo exhibition.

Dana Carlberg
Dana Carlberg is the new Ceramics Artist in Residence at The Living Arts & Science Center. He has practiced pottery since college, working primarily on the wheel to create functional pieces such as bowls, cups, and plates, with occasional explorations into small sculptural work. He also maintains a small studio in Berea.
Through his residency at LASC, Dana will develop his studio practice and gain experience toward a professional career in ceramics. He will teach pottery classes, sharing his experience with clay while growing as an instructor. The residency provides dedicated studio space and support as he explores new directions in his work.
