Call for Curators of Color

At LASC, we acknowledge that we are a predominantly white-run organization and as we continue to create diverse programming, it is imperative that we invite culturally appropriate representatives and their perspectives to reflect such programming. LASC is seeking guest curators of color to facilitate the artwork presented in our galleries during our Reflections exhibit (honoring artists of color) and Day of the Dead exhibit (honoring Hispanic, Latino/Latina, and LatinX artists). An honorarium will be available.

Plants and Prints Artist Call

To celebrate Earth Day, The Living Arts & Science Center is partnering with Reforest the Bluegrass and Seedleaf to gather the community around plants and the printmaking process. We believe in making gardening and owning artwork accessible.  LASC is seeking local printmakers who would like to make their work available to the public at an affordable price point.

Printmakers will have the opportunity to sell their work (this does not include photographs or other digital images) from 10 am to 4 pm on April 20th. All works must be capped at $75, and each artist will be responsible for selling their work independently (e.g. cash, Venmo, Square, etc.).

Printmakers must pay a booth fee $25 and must bring their own table and chairs to the event, as well as a tent if they so choose. Contact the Gallery Manager if these are not available to you and we will work with you.

Deadline to Submit Interest Form: March 30, 2024 by 5pm, DEADLINE EXTENDED April 5, 2024 by 5pm.

Artists will be reviewed and be sent the booth payment link by April 5, 2024.

Event Date: April 20, 2024 (10 am to 4 pm)

Welcoming Week Artist Call

Welcoming Week is an international effort aimed at bringing neighbors of all backgrounds together to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity. As such, this annual campaign celebrates the work in communities to become welcoming places for all, including immigrants. In honor of this campaign, LASC is calling on local artists, regardless of birthplace, to submit work that reflects on the diversity of Lexington and Kentucky as a whole, as well as why they call Kentucky home. 2D artwork submitted for consideration should not exceed 24” x 36” and should have wire strung along the back for ease of installation. The capacity for showing 3D work will be limited to a small selection of pedestals. Artists must apply by August 3, 2024. All artists will be notified of their acceptance by August 16, 2024. Artists may submit up to 4 pieces for consideration.
