Discovery Field Trips

Field Trip Details:

Field trips at the LASC are designed for each group’s interests and are composed of selected components.  LASC field trips are typically structured as “Doubles,” “Triples,” and “Quads” and can focus on your choice of art, science or both! Specially designed full-day options at the LASC are also available.

“Double” Art or Science Discovery Field Trip
(2 selected 45 minute components)
$4.00 per student and adult; teachers are free.
(Less than 12 people: $60.00 flat fee.)

“Triple” Art and/or Science Discovery Field Trip
(3 selected 40 minute components)
$5.00 per student and adult; teachers are free.
(Less than 12 people: $70.00 flat fee.)

“Quadruple” Art AND Science Discovery Field Trip
(2 selected 30 minute science  and two 30 minute art components)
$6.00 per student and adult; teachers are free. Includes art project to take home!
(This option is great for large groups!  Less than 12 people: $90.00 flat fee.)

Component 2: The Explorer’s Classroom
A companion program for The Science Discovery Exhibit
Explore the fascinating world of color or space through a variety of creative hands-on activities and demonstrations in our Explorer’s Classroom!

Component 3: The Planetarium
Observe the beauty and science of the night sky in our new digital planetarium!  Select from one of ten new dome shows that explore changes in the night sky, stars, planets, ice worlds, constellations, mythology, moon phases, and more. Click HERE to see more information of planetarium shows.

Component 4: The Art Discovery Exhibit

Field trips experience the dynamic work of local and regional artists, and the fascinating connections between art, science, history and culture.  Each group is guided through the exhibit and into participatory elements.

Component 5: The Art Studio
A companion program for the Art Discovery Exhibit
CREATE ART!  Students will create their own artwork related to the current art exhibition.  Students will be led by artists as they focus on the elements of art and principles of design, as well as connections between art, science, history and culture.
