Find the answers to these and other questions during our exciting LIVE Reptile Night! <span id="more-2823"></span>Join the LASC and the Kentucky Reptile Zoo of Slade KY for a fun-filled investigation of the reptilian world! Live reptiles will include a live American Alligator, an eleven foot Burmese Python, a variety of venomous and non-venomous snakes, a turtle, and more! Learn about reptile structure and function, their habitats, and the importance of reptiles in our ecosystem. Also during Discovery Night, make some cool, cold blooded art to take home!</p>

<p>It’s springtime in the Bluegrass and a great time to explore, experiment, and get creative inside and out! Join the Living Arts &amp; Science Center’s teachers, staff and special guests for a FREE day of hands-on arts, science, and music activities on April 28, from 10 am to 3 pm at the LASC.<span id="more-1816"></span></p>
<p>The event is free and open to the public and offers many new activities as well as annual events. All activities are hands-on and will take place indoors and out, rain or shine!</p>
<p><strong>Special events this year will include:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Clay Creations! Build a clay jungle and try your hand at a pottery wheel</li>
<li>Participate in Chinese Cultural Demonstrations by the Confucius Institute, University of Kentucky</li>
<li>Create colorful horse sculptures</li>
<li>Design your own flower pots and help build a community art garden project for the LASC</li>
<li>Make colorful or kooky Derby Hats</li>
<li>Experiment along with our Science Specialist and her mysterious science projects</li>
<li>Construct your own kites and fly them on the lawn</li>
<li>Pet an Alpaca! Lynn Brooke Farm will be here with their live alpacas and wonderful samples of fleece and yarn</li>
<li>Participate in our membership drive or sign up for summer classes and receive a free prize</li>
<li>And, everyone has the opportunity to turn car into canvas for the annual painting of the Art Car!</li>
</ul>
<p>In addition, you can visit live animals and make your own animal artwork while visiting our interactive art exhibit: Animals Facts, Fairy Tales, and Fictions and our hands-on Discovery Exhibit: Amazing Animal Adaptations.</p>

Join Christ Church Cathedral, Seedleaf, the London Ferrill community garden (LFCG) and The Living Arts and Science Center for an Earth Day celebration, held at the Old Episcopal Burying Grounds.<br />
<strong>9:00 AM &#8211; Noon</strong><br />
the LFCG will begin with garden plot clean-up and Spring planting<br />
<strong>Noon &#8211; 3:00 PM</strong><br />
<strong>Activities include:</strong><span id="more-2779"></span></p>
<p>•	Planting a garden mural/butterfly garden along with a small seed planting “Make and Take” for earth day visitors.<br />
•	An “Energy-on-the-move” demo of energy saving practices<br />
•	A community art project, utilizing recyclable material<br />
•	Enjoy smoothies from Berry Pedalers and their bike-powered blender<br />
•	Beekeeping demonstrations<br />
•	A compost demo<br />
•	Tree-pruning demo<br />
•	Labyrinth demo and use<br />
•	Docent tours of the London Ferrill community garden and the Old Episcopal Burying Ground</p>
<p>The LASC is gathering recycled materials for a colorful fence-weaving project which will be one of many fun activities offered at the event. We are seeking donations of used, durable, clean, and colorful materials for the project, including but not limited to: plastic bags, netting, electrical wires and cables, rope, old garden hoses, flexible tubing, and more.  We may also include visually interesting, easily attachable items such as old CDs. Please bring donations to the LASC between now and April 20th.</p>

On Thursday, April 5th, detectives descended on the Living Arts and Science Center to determine who stole the work of Vick Ofcrime.  The detectives analyzed “blood,” fingerprints, hair, and ink.  They interrogated the shady suspects and. . . . </p>
<p>The blood (AB-,) thumbprint, and pen belonged to Suspect 3 – Toot Raditional, the art critic.  She made a full confession!</p>
<p>The hair was camel fur from the Discovery Exhibit that she had caught on her coat when she was casing the place!</p>
<p>Congratulations to Bella J. Davis, the Detective who won the drawing for a family membership to the LASC. </p>
<p>Thank you to all the detectives who helped us solve the crime!!!</p>
