Buddy   1997 - 2007

We are so very sad to inform you that the LASC kitty cat, Buddy, passed away on November 22. He lay down and, very peacefully, dozed off for the last time. Our friend Bob, who looked out for Buddy over many weekends and holidays, buried him on the LASC Grounds.

He had been under the good care of The Chevy Chase Small Animal Clinic and was always a good cooperative patient.

Before the LASC adopted Buddy he would come into the yard and beg for food from the children during their breaks from classes over the summer. He would eat anything!!

Nobody in the neighborhood would claim him, so as weather got colder and he began running inside the LASC any chance he got, we decided to adopt him and care for him properly.

As a young cat he was quite the outdoorsman and saw to it that no other odd cats bothered us when we were outside. As he mellowed with maturity he would enjoy napping in the “time out” box at the front desk. In later years he insisted on napping under the front desk lamp, answering the phone and typing on the keyboard.

Guests would ask if it were a real cat and then be startled by his flopping tail.

He was enjoyed by many and will be missed by all.  What a cat!

If you have any thoughts or pictures of Buddy that you would like to share, please send them to slittrell@lasclex.org and we will post them here, on our website. Thank you.

We know that Heaven is a much better place now that Buddy is up there playing with our pets & all the birds & insects he desires. We instantly felt at home in the Living Arts & Science Center when Buddy came to greet us. Our family is heartbroken to learn in the Newsletter of his passing. What a precious organization you are to adopt him and share his companionship with all the children & adults that came to learn. Real life animal lessons & art inspirations were imparted through Buddy. He probably would say, ''Of course they were. Cats are superior inspirations & teachers, naturally."

Our children say:
(Nicholas) "We will miss him so much. He was so cute."
(Curtis) "Me like Buddy!"
(Christina) " Ever since I saw Buddy, I loved him. It hurt my heart when I heard he passed away. Buddy was such a sweet cat."
Buddy, Thank you for giving us the gift of You!

Most Warmly,
The Reliches
